Chief Accountant

About the role

UCC Energy is looking for an experienced Chief Accountant to lead its finance function in Libya. You will oversee the full spectrum of accounting activities within an upstream oil & gas environment, ensuring accurate financial reporting and robust internal controls.

Key responsibilities

• Process general ledger journals and manage month‑end close activities.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and transaction accounting.
• Maintain fixed‑asset and inventory accounting records and perform reconciliations.
• Prepare balance‑sheet reconciliations and monitor internal control effectiveness.
• Support statutory, management, and audit reporting as well as tax compliance.
• Maintain SAP master data, improve accounting processes, and ensure data integrity.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field.
• Strong experience in financial accounting, month‑end close, reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Knowledge of upstream oil & gas accounting principles and asset transactions.
• Professional English communication skills; Arabic is a plus.
