Deputy Chief of Mission (Professional)

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Deputy Chief of Mission (Professional) to support the Chief of Mission in Libya. This senior position will ensure strategic coherence across migration, early recovery, durable solutions and development programmes while providing leadership for the Country Office.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Chief of Mission in overseeing the Project and Development Support Unit (PDSU) and aligning it with IOM’s global mandate.
• Manage early recovery, durable solutions and development programming for the Libya Country Office.
• Supervise Heads of Sub‑Offices and ensure effective implementation of projects across the country.
• Coordinate closely with Regional Thematic Specialists and the Regional Resource Management Unit to optimize resources and expertise.
• Represent IOM in high‑level meetings with government, inter‑governmental and non‑governmental partners.

Required profile

• Extensive senior leadership experience in migration, humanitarian or development contexts.
• Proven ability to manage complex programmes and supervise multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Strong knowledge of early recovery, durable solutions and development support mechanisms.
• Excellent coordination skills with headquarters, regional units and external partners.
