Protection Associate (Assessments and Referrals)

About the role

The Protection Associate (Assessments and Referrals) supports IOM Libya’s mission to protect migrants, internally displaced persons, returnees and host communities. Working under the Senior Protection Coordinator and the National Protection Officer, the role focuses on pre‑departure activities, ensuring that migrants’ information is collected and processed efficiently to facilitate safe return and reintegration.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process referrals from multiple entry points, including consular support, detention centres, embassies, hotlines and other IOM units.
• Conduct AVM (Arrival and Vulnerability Management) screening activities for all received referrals.
• Collect, verify and organise migrants’ information in line with IOM pre‑departure procedures.
• Support the preparation of pre‑departure documentation and facilitate the return and reintegration process.

Required profile

• Experience or academic background in humanitarian protection, migration or related fields.
• Ability to work under the supervision of the Senior Protection Coordinator and National Protection Officer.
• Familiarity with IOM protection procedures and pre‑departure activities.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
