Electrowinning Operator

About the role

The Electrowinning Operator is responsible for running electrowinning cells safely and efficiently to produce cathode material that meets quality specifications. This position works on‑site in a metal processing plant, following standard operating procedures and maintaining a safe environment around electrical and acid hazards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate electrowinning cells according to SOPs, continuously monitoring current, voltage and cell conditions.
• Strip and harvest cathodes on schedule, preparing product for weighing, stacking and dispatch.
• Monitor and maintain anode and cathode condition, replacing components as required.
• Check electrolyte quality, report any deviations, and ensure corrective actions are taken.
• Maintain accurate production and quality records.
• Observe safe working practices around electrical and acid hazards.

Required profile

• Secondary education with basic plant operations training.
• At least 2 years of experience in electrowinning, electrorefining or a similar electrochemical process environment.
• Experience in copper or other base‑metal hydrometallurgical operations is acceptable.
