Protection Coordinator – National Position

About the role

The Protection Coordinator will lead the planning, implementation and monitoring of protection activities across Libya, ensuring that project objectives are met and that vulnerable populations receive appropriate support.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise protection interventions in line with the project workplan and methodologies.
• Organise protection awareness sessions, referrals, case management and capacity‑building activities.
• Collaborate with local and international partners, authorities and other stakeholders to ensure effective local implementation.
• Manage the partnership with the local implementing partner, guaranteeing timely and quality delivery of delegated tasks.
• Conduct protection needs assessments, consultations and analyses with target communities.
• Develop and oversee protection tools, methodologies and monitoring mechanisms.
• Collect, analyse and consolidate protection data and contribute to narrative reporting.
• Ensure compliance with AVSI procedures, donor regulations and protection standards.
• Report regularly to the Country Head of Programmes and support strategic planning and fundraising initiatives.

Required profile

• University degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in Social Sciences, Humanitarian Action, International Relations, Law, Psychology or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years professional experience with international NGOs or humanitarian organisations in Libya, preferably in child protection or education.

Required skills

• Proven experience coordinating humanitarian projects in Libya.
• Strong knowledge of humanitarian protection principles, safeguarding, AAP, gender and inclusion, and Do No Harm approaches.
• Experience working with local partners, authorities and coordination mechanisms.
• Excellent analytical, reporting and problem‑solving abilities.
• Fluent in English and Arabic (written and spoken); Italian is an asset.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
