Anesthesia Doctor – Al Kufra

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a qualified Anesthesia Doctor to provide safe, high‑quality anesthesia services for surgical, obstetric and emergency procedures at its health facilities in Al Kufra, Libya. You will work closely with surgeons, medical teams and Ministry of Health staff to improve surgical outcomes and support critical care.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct pre‑operative assessments and develop anesthesia plans.
• Manage intra‑operative anesthesia, monitor patients, and provide postoperative care.
• Deliver pain management and ensure adherence to patient safety and infection‑prevention protocols.
• Support emergency and critical care services, including airway management and resuscitation.
• Promote rational use of anesthetic drugs and medical supplies.
• Maintain functionality and safety of anesthesia equipment.

Required profile

• Medical degree with specialization in anesthesia.
• Licensed to practice medicine in Libya or an equivalent jurisdiction.
• Experience providing anesthesia in surgical, obstetric and emergency settings.
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and local health authorities.
• Commitment to humanitarian principles and working in resource‑limited environments.
