Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

About the role

The Mechanical Maintenance Engineer is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and maintaining engines, generators, heavy equipment, forklifts and related mechanical systems. The role combines hands‑on repair work with supervision of maintenance technicians to ensure high equipment availability and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Perform inspection, preventive and corrective maintenance on diesel engines, electrical generators, forklifts and heavy equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical faults using appropriate diagnostic tools and identify root causes.
• Disassemble, repair, replace and re‑assemble mechanical components as required.
• Maintain fuel, cooling, lubrication, engine‑starting and hydraulic systems.
• Inspect drive, power‑transmission and hydraulic systems and verify performance.
• Read and interpret equipment manuals, technical drawings, specifications and service documentation.
• Coordinate with spare‑parts and technical‑services teams to secure required components.
• Provide technical support to field technicians and customers at job sites.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements and approved procedures.

Required profile

• Strong practical field experience with diesel engines and heavy‑equipment maintenance.
• Proven ability to diagnose faults, determine root causes and execute corrective actions.
• Previous work with generator companies, authorized dealers, service centres or maintenance firms is highly preferred.
• Ability to read technical documentation and follow safety and quality protocols.
