Outreach and Community-Based Protection Officer

About the role

The Outreach and Community-Based Protection (CBP) Officer will support IOM’s protection programmes on the Central Mediterranean Route, focusing on migrants in transit, particularly those identified in Libya. The role involves delivering outreach, providing protection services, and coordinating with partners to ensure humane and orderly migration.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct outreach activities to identify and assist migrants vulnerable to exploitation.
• Provide need‑based protection support and referrals in line with IOM standards.
• Collaborate with governmental, intergovernmental and non‑governmental partners to implement comprehensive protection programmes.
• Collect and report data on protection cases and outcomes.
• Contribute to the development of community‑based protection strategies and capacity‑building initiatives.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in protection, humanitarian assistance, or migration management.
• Strong understanding of migration routes and protection challenges in the Central Mediterranean context.
• Ability to work with diverse stakeholders and multicultural teams.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills.
