About the role

The Advisor, Global MHPSS Technical Unit provides technical quality oversight and programmatic guidance to International Medical Corps' mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) activities worldwide. The role supports country teams, ensures compliance with global guidelines, and contributes to the development of high‑quality, culturally appropriate interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Support country teams in designing and implementing culturally appropriate MHPSS activities, including MH/PHC integration, case management, Early Childhood Development, Psychological First Aid, and peer‑support programs.
• Assist in developing project proposals and expanding MHPSS programming in humanitarian settings.
• Ensure all MHPSS work aligns with IASC guidelines and IMC’s technical standards, promoting holistic, community‑based approaches.
• Facilitate cross‑cutting integration with Nutrition, Health, Child Protection, and VAWG programs.
• Coordinate with government authorities, NGOs, and international bodies, representing IMC in national and international forums.
• Develop and apply standardized monitoring and evaluation tools, capture lessons learned, and produce field trip reports with recommendations.

Required profile

• University degree (minimum 4‑year) in psychology, social work, psychiatry, nursing, or related field; professional mental‑health qualification.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in mental‑health programming, with at least 5 years leading MHPSS initiatives in humanitarian or low‑resource settings.
• Deep knowledge of IASC MHPSS guidelines and experience in training and capacity building.
• Strong organizational, supervisory, reporting, and writing abilities; proven ability to mentor and motivate teams.
• Excellent English communication skills, willingness to travel frequently on short notice, and ability to work under stressful conditions.
