Head of Cardiac Anesthesia and ICU

About the role

The institution seeks an exceptional medical leader to head its Cardiac Anesthesia and ICU departments. This senior position will guide multidisciplinary teams, ensure world‑class patient outcomes, and drive strategic growth in a tertiary care setting.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert cardiac anesthesia for complex procedures such as CABG, valve surgery, heart transplantation, and minimally invasive interventions.
• Lead intensive care management of critically ill cardiac patients, overseeing postoperative care, hemodynamic stabilization, and ventilation strategies.
• Develop, implement, and maintain evidence‑based clinical protocols for safety, pain management, and resuscitation.
• Direct, mentor, and evaluate a multidisciplinary team of physicians, fellows, residents, perfusionists, and nursing staff.
• Oversee staff scheduling, credentialing, competency assessments, and continuous professional development.
• Lead quality‑assurance initiatives, including morbidity‑mortality meetings and root‑cause analyses.
• Manage departmental operations, budgeting, resource allocation, and advanced equipment procurement.
• Collaborate with hospital administration on strategic initiatives, technology adoption, and infrastructure improvements.
• Ensure compliance with international accreditation standards such as JCI and NABH.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of clinical anesthesia experience, with at least 5 years dedicated to cardiac anesthesia and critical care.
• Proven leadership experience in a tertiary‑care hospital or specialized cardiac center.
• Doctoral degree (MD/PhD) with specialist certification in Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine.
• Demonstrated ability to lead high‑performing teams and foster a culture of patient safety.
