Mechanical Site Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Site Engineer to lead the mechanical supervision on a major hospital project and various hotel projects in Benghazi. The role involves on‑site coordination, quality control and commissioning of HVAC, plumbing, drainage, firefighting and medical‑gas systems.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise installation of HVAC, plumbing, drainage, firefighting and medical‑gas systems against approved drawings and specifications.
• Resolve day‑to‑day design and coordination queries on site, record decisions and keep work progressing.
• Address routing and coordination clashes with architectural, structural and electrical works.
• Review shop drawings and material submittals, and respond to contractor technical queries.
• Witness testing, balancing, commissioning and manage mechanical snagging through handover.
• Plan, track and report mechanical works against the programme, including progress, deliverables and milestones.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 7+ years of experience in building mechanical services, at least 4 years on‑site.
• Proven experience on hospital and hotel projects, including full commissioning and handover.
• Strong knowledge of international standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, HTM 02‑01, ISO 7396‑1, IPC, UPC, EN 806, EN 12056, SMACNA).
• Fluent in English; proficiency in a second language (Arabic or Turkish) is a plus.

Required skills

• AutoCAD.
• Load, duct and pipe sizing software (HAP or equivalent).
• HVAC, plumbing, drainage, firefighting and medical‑gas system design.
• Application of ASHRAE, NFPA, HTM 02‑01, ISO 7396‑1, IPC, UPC, EN 806, EN 12056 and SMACNA standards.
• Project planning and coordination across multidisciplinary teams.
