About the role
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Protection Associate (CT) to join its Libya office. The role supports IOM’s mandate to provide humane and orderly migration assistance, focusing on the protection of migrants, internally displaced persons, returnees and host communities, and on the implementation of the Voluntary Humanitarian Return (VHR) programme.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the focal point for protection activities and coordination with national authorities, UN agencies, donors and civil‑society partners.
- Provide direct assistance and protection services to vulnerable migrants, including women, unaccompanied children, the elderly and medically vulnerable individuals.
- Support the planning, monitoring and delivery of the VHR programme, ensuring a rights‑based, protection‑centered approach.
- Contribute to the collection, analysis and reporting of protection data and trends in the Central Mediterranean Route.
- Assist in strengthening national capacities in migration governance, border management and psychosocial support.
Required profile
- Relevant university degree in migration studies, humanitarian affairs, social sciences or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in protection or humanitarian assistance, preferably in migration contexts.
- Understanding of the migration and protection challenges in Libya and the Central Mediterranean Route.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders in a multicultural environment.
- Strong communication and reporting skills in English.
