Protection Officer – Gender-Based Violence & Child Protection

About the role
The Protection Officer (Gender‑Based Violence and Child Protection) will support the IOM Libya office in designing, delivering and monitoring protection interventions for survivors of GBV and migrant children. Working under the Senior Programme Coordinator and Programme Manager, the officer will contribute to safeguarding vulnerable populations along the Central Mediterranean Route.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in developing and implementing GBV and child‑protection programmes, including case management and referral pathways.
- Collect, analyse and report data on protection needs, trends and outcomes.
- Provide direct support and counselling to survivors and unaccompanied children.
- Facilitate community‑based protection activities to raise awareness and build resilience.
- Support capacity‑building and advocacy efforts with local authorities and partners on trafficking, smuggling, education access and child‑rights.
Required profile
- Relevant university degree in social sciences, humanitarian affairs, public health or related field.
- Experience working with GBV survivors, child protection or migration contexts, preferably in fragile settings.
- Strong understanding of international protection standards and IOM policies.
- Excellent communication, reporting and coordination skills.
