Senior Child Protection Associate

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Senior Child Protection Associate to support its Voluntary Humanitarian Return (VHR) programme in Libya. Based in Tripoli, the incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the GBV and Child Protection Officer, coordinating closely with other programme units to ensure the safety and well‑being of vulnerable migrants, especially women, unaccompanied children, the elderly and medically vulnerable individuals.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the GBV and Child Protection Officer in operational planning of IOM Libya child protection interventions.
• Supervise IOM/CTG Libya child protection staff, distribute tasks, set work‑plans and monitor performance.
• Plan and conduct daily visits to urban areas, IDP camps and detention centres in coordination with other IOM departments.
• Review, assign and manage child protection cases, ensuring implementation of case‑management plans with specialized protection colleagues.
• Monitor protection projects and activities, providing regular feedback to programme managers.
• Support the GBV and Child Protection Officer in reviewing child protection policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Significant experience in child protection and gender‑based violence within humanitarian or migration contexts.
• Proven ability to supervise and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong knowledge of protection standards, case‑management processes and humanitarian response mechanisms.
• Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
