Senior Driver (Local)

About the role

United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Tripoli is seeking a local Senior Driver to provide safe, reliable transportation for staff, consultants and mission assets as part of its Global Maritime Crime Programme. The contractor will work under the guidance of the GMCP Programme Officer and will support both routine and mission‑critical movements across Libya.

Key responsibilities

• Provide timely transport of UNODC personnel, authorized visitors and official documents throughout Tripoli and other locations in Libya.
• Maintain the assigned vehicle in clean and mechanically sound condition, performing daily checks of fuel, oil, tires, brakes and lights.
• Accurately complete vehicle logbooks and report any mechanical issues or incidents immediately.
• Follow UN security procedures, UNDSS movement protocols and local traffic regulations at all times.
• Assist with airport arrivals, customs, visa and immigration formalities for staff and mission members.
• Handle incoming and outgoing mail, packages and equipment, ensuring proper distribution.
• Support logistics arrangements for incoming missions, including transport coordination and administrative tasks.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid national driving licence (Grade B or higher).
• Minimum two years of driving and logistics/administrative experience in an international setting.
• Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance.
• Good familiarity with Tripoli and surrounding areas.
