Chargeback & Settlement Specialist

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Chargeback & Settlement Specialist to join a client bank in Tripoli for a 12‑month on‑site assignment. The role focuses on managing card disputes, chargebacks, clearing and settlement activities with a strong emphasis on accuracy, timeliness and operational controls.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the end‑to‑end chargeback and dispute lifecycle, including case review, evidence validation, submission, representment, pre‑arbitration and closure.
• Perform daily clearing and settlement activities for card transactions and verify accurate movement of funds.
• Reconcile settlement files, bank accounts, general‑ledger entries and scheme reports; investigate and resolve breaks, mismatches and aged items.
• Coordinate with Finance, Operations, Technology, Risk, Fraud, Customer Service, merchants, processors and other parties to resolve exceptions.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reporting on dispute volumes, recovery outcomes, settlement breaks, ageing and root causes.

Required profile

• 5‑8 years of hands‑on experience in chargebacks, card disputes, clearing and settlement within a bank, payment processor, fintech or card‑services environment.
• Practical understanding of issuer and/or acquirer dispute operations and the full card‑transaction lifecycle.
• Working knowledge of international card‑scheme rules, dispute reason codes, evidence requirements and processing timelines.
• Strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy and ownership.
