Deputy Chief of Mission – Libya Country Office

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Deputy Chief of Mission (DCoM) to support the Chief of Mission in Libya. The DCoM will ensure coherence between IOM’s Project and Development Support Unit and oversee early recovery, durable solutions, and development programming for the country office.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Chief of Mission in strategic planning and operational oversight for all programmes in Libya.
• Supervise Heads of Sub‑Office(s) and coordinate with Regional Thematic Specialists and the Regional Resource Management Unit.
• Ensure effective implementation of migration, humanitarian, and development projects, maintaining alignment with IOM policies and donor requirements.
• Manage early recovery and durable solutions initiatives, monitoring progress and reporting outcomes.
• Represent IOM in high‑level meetings with government, inter‑governmental and non‑governmental partners.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in international development, humanitarian assistance, or migration management.
• Proven leadership and supervisory experience in a multi‑stakeholder environment.
• Strong understanding of UN agency frameworks and donor compliance.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with fluency in English; additional languages are an asset.
