Hydrographic Survey Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Hydrographic Survey Engineer to lead bathymetric survey operations on marine construction projects. The role involves hands‑on field work, data processing, and close collaboration with construction teams to ensure safe and efficient marine works.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct NORBIT MBES bathymetric surveys, including daily system setup, calibration/patch testing, data acquisition and field quality control.
• Process raw survey data, perform quality checks and deliver clean deliverables such as Digital Terrain Models (DTM) and as‑built updates.
• Maintain and update survey/design files for excavator, crane and barge positioning systems, ensuring operators use the latest datasets.
• Perform routine verification of positioning equipment (GNSS/RTK status, sensor health, offsets and basic calibrations).
• Provide real‑time survey guidance and troubleshooting support to operational teams during marine works.
• Document data quality, accuracy and traceability through logs, check lines and QA/QC records.
• Adhere to all HSE requirements and work closely with construction crews to promote safe operations.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of experience in marine/hydrographic surveying.
• Participation in at least two marine projects such as ports, breakwaters or dredging/reclamation.
• Proven experience with MBES bathymetric surveys, from setup to processing.
• Practical knowledge of marine machine‑control/positioning systems, preferably Trimble Machine Control / TMC (PDS2000‑based).
• Diploma or Technical Certificate in Surveying/Hydrography, or equivalent field experience.
