National Border Governance Officer

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a National Border Governance Officer to support its migration management programme in Libya. Reporting to the Senior Programme Coordinator (IBG) and under the guidance of the Chief of Mission, the officer will help coordinate border governance activities with national authorities and monitor implementation against agreed frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning, coordinating and monitoring the implementation of the IBG programme portfolio.
• Facilitate collaboration with the Ministry of Interior and other relevant national partners.
• Track programme activities, ensure compliance with IOM policies and report progress to senior staff.
• Support the preparation of technical documents, briefing notes and operational guidelines.
• Contribute to the development of monitoring tools and data collection mechanisms.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree in migration studies, international relations, public administration or a related field.
• Experience working with government ministries or UN agencies on migration or border management.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities in English; knowledge of Arabic is an asset.
