Community Outreach Hygiene Promoter

About the role

International Medical Corps is seeking a Community Outreach Hygiene Promoter to lead hygiene promotion and community mobilization in Kufra, Libya. The role supports the WASH team in delivering effective hygiene messages, conducting campaigns, and gathering data to improve water, sanitation and hygiene conditions for displaced and host communities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct rapid needs assessments at community and household levels and translate findings into activity plans and budgets.
• Deliver hygiene promotion activities tailored to local contexts, including house‑to‑house visits, community events, radio broadcasts and training of food vendors.
• Sensitize communities on acute watery diarrhoea and cholera prevention and promote hand‑washing, safe sanitation and proper use of water facilities.
• Work with WASH committees to identify challenges, monitor water treatment points, and ensure maintenance of communal sanitation facilities.
• Oversee community volunteers, provide capacity‑building support, and ensure accurate data collection and reporting.
• Conduct sanitary surveys around water sources and support post‑distribution monitoring of hygiene kits.

Required profile

• Ability to work effectively in limited or basic living conditions.
• Experience in community outreach, hygiene promotion or related humanitarian activities.
• Strong coordination skills to act as a liaison between IMC and target communities.
• Capacity to train and supervise local staff and volunteers.
