Associate Public Information Officer – UN Mission in Libya

About the role

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) is seeking an Associate Public Information Officer to join its Public Information and Communications Section in Tripoli. Reporting to the Public Information Officer and under the overall supervision of the Senior Public Information Officer, you will help shape and deliver the mission’s communication strategy for local audiences.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor news and social media, produce daily headlines, media reviews and trend analyses for internal use.
• Draft and disseminate communication products in English and Arabic, including press releases, statements, social media posts and human‑interest stories.
• Support the design and implementation of national communication campaigns and digital media initiatives.
• Cover mission events, creating photography and video content as needed.
• Build partnerships with local media and organisations to advance UNSMIL’s public information agenda.
• Contribute to reports on communications activities, trends and public opinion for mission leadership and UN Headquarters.

Required profile

• University degree in communications, journalism, public relations or a related field.
• Experience in public information, media monitoring or digital communications, preferably in an international or humanitarian context.
• Fluency in English and Arabic (both written and spoken).
• Strong analytical skills and ability to produce clear, concise written products under tight deadlines.
