Financial Controller – Construction & Infrastructure Projects

About the role

Our client, a leading construction and infrastructure organization delivering major projects across Libya, is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to oversee financial controlling, reporting, budgeting, and project financial performance.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee financial controlling, reporting, and accounting activities across projects and business operations.
• Monitor project budgets, costs, commitments, and financial performance, identifying variances and potential risks.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes, ensuring alignment with business and project objectives.
• Prepare and analyse financial and management reports, providing insights into project profitability and financial performance.
• Ensure compliance with financial policies, internal controls, accounting standards, and statutory requirements.
• Monitor project cost control and expenditure, investigating significant variances and recommending corrective actions.
• Work closely with project, commercial, and management teams to provide financial guidance and support strategic decision‑making.
• Support financial audits and ensure accurate and timely submission of required financial information and reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent preferred.
• 8–12 years of relevant experience in financial controlling, finance management, or project finance, preferably within construction, infrastructure, or large‑scale projects.
• Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, cost control, financial reporting, and financial analysis.
• Proven experience in monitoring project financial performance, budgets, costs, and variances.
• Strong understanding of financial controls, accounting principles, and compliance requirements.
• Experience working closely with project, commercial, and senior management teams.
• International or multinational project experience is highly preferred.
