Chief of Mission (CoM) – Senior Leadership Role

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) seeks a Chief of Mission (CoM) to lead its Country Office. Reporting directly to the Director General and the Regional Director, the CoM will provide policy, administrative, programme and financial oversight, ensuring IOM’s mandate is delivered effectively at country level.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the country’s strategic migration programme in line with IOM’s global strategy.
• Oversee policy formulation, programme planning, results orientation and operational excellence.
• Manage financial resources, budgets and reporting to ensure accountability.
• Coordinate with the Resident Coordinator on UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework objectives.
• Represent IOM to government, inter‑governmental and non‑governmental partners.

Required profile

• Open to first‑ and second‑tier candidates, with priority for internal staff, qualified female candidates and applicants from non‑represented IOM member states.
• Proven senior leadership experience in international development or migration.
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment and liaise with UN agencies.
