Field Security Associate

About the role

The Field Security Associate will support the Senior Field Security Officer in delivering security and administrative services for IOM’s mission in Libya. Working under the overall supervision of the Country Operations Manager, the role ensures accurate, timely security information and contributes to the development and implementation of security plans, contingency procedures and emergency response mechanisms.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain effective working relationships with the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS), host‑government agencies and local authorities to obtain up‑to‑date security information.
• Collect, update and disseminate information on the security situation in Libya to relevant IOM staff.
• Assist in developing and implementing country‑specific security plans, contingency and emergency response plans, and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Support the implementation of audit recommendations for the IOM Safety & Security function.
• Coordinate with other Local Security Assistants and UN agency staff to ensure consistent service delivery.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to work in a client‑focused, quality‑oriented and results‑driven environment.
• Strong communication skills and capacity to maintain professional relationships with UN agencies and local authorities.
• Experience in security coordination or related fields within an international or humanitarian context.
