MEP Site Engineer

About the role

Matla Design, an international architecture and engineering practice founded in 2008, is the designer and construction supervisor on a major hospital project in Benghazi. It is looking for an MEP site engineer with mechanical or electrical site experience to join its site team. The role covers both mechanical and electrical installations under the MEP Manager and the Electrical Site Engineer, and is full time, resident on site in Benghazi, Saturday to Thursday.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise mechanical and electrical installations on assigned floors, including inspection, quality control and acceptance of concealed works before close-up
• Check installed works against approved shop drawings and materials
• Witness site tests such as pressure, flushing and insulation resistance tests
• Support the review of MEP submittals and shop drawings
• Raise non-conformances and follow corrective actions to closure
• Cover the MEP Manager and the Electrical Site Engineer during their absence
• Record and report unsafe conditions the same day, and escalate unresolved issues to the managers with the facts

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical or electromechanical engineering
• 2+ years as a site engineer on mechanical or electrical installations in buildings
• Based in Benghazi; Arabic and English, spoken and written
• Nice to have: hospital projects or other heavily serviced buildings, work on the consultant or supervision side, familiarity with project standards (ASHRAE 170, NFPA 13, 72 and 99, HTM 02-01, BS EN 12056, IEC 60364), and Turkish

Required skills

• AutoCAD for reading and marking up drawings
• Excel and Word
