Senior HSE Specialist – Awjilah 103 Base

About the role

The Senior HSE Specialist supports local management at Awjilah 103 Base in establishing, implementing and continuously improving the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) culture. Working in a remote, field‑based environment, the role ensures compliance with company standards, Libyan regulations and industry best practices while promoting proactive safety behaviours.

Key responsibilities

• Support implementation and maintenance of the HSE Management System on‑site.
• Conduct HSE audits, inspections, self‑assessments and ensure corrective actions are taken.
• Identify hazards, perform risk assessments (JSA, hazard analysis) and develop related procedures, work instructions and checklists.
• Deliver HSE training to employees and contractors and promote safety awareness across the site.
• Participate in incident investigations, track follow‑up actions and monitor HSE performance indicators.
• Maintain HSE data in systems such as QUEST, analyse trends and recommend improvement actions.
• Liaise with contractors, authorities and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance.
• Participate in SET meetings, site safety reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science or a related field.
• 5–8+ years of HSE experience, preferably in oil & gas or field operations.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and other industry HSE standards.
• Experience working in remote or desert operational environments.
• Proven ability to lead, influence and work under pressure in isolated locations.
