Senior Protection Associate (GBV)

About the role

The Senior Protection Associate (GBV) will support IOM’s Voluntary Humanitarian Return programme in Libya, focusing on gender‑based violence (GBV) prevention, response and risk mitigation. Working under the AVM Programme Manager and the Child Protection and GBV Officer, the incumbent will help integrate child protection and community‑based protection into GBV activities and ensure survivors receive appropriate support and referrals.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the GBV and Child Protection Officer in designing, implementing and monitoring GBV programmes in Libya.
• Provide technical guidance to ensure consistency and quality across GBV activities.
• Coordinate with internal units such as MHD, MHPSS, CBP, AVM, ATD, Community Hosting, RRT and field staff.
• Support outreach, awareness‑raising and community engagement on GBV prevention.
• Identify, support and refer GBV survivors to appropriate services.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in GBV, child protection or humanitarian protection programmes.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multi‑stakeholder environment and coordinate across units.
• Strong understanding of rights‑based, protection‑centered approaches.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills.
