Head of Cardiac Anesthesia and ICU

About the role

The organization is a leading tertiary care institution seeking an exceptional medical leader to head its Cardiac Anesthesia and ICU departments. This senior position requires a visionary anesthesiologist and intensivist to drive multidisciplinary collaboration and achieve world‑class patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert cardiac anesthesia for complex surgeries such as CABG, valve repairs/replacements, heart transplants and minimally invasive procedures.
• Lead intensive care management of critically ill cardiac patients, overseeing postoperative care, hemodynamic stabilization and evidence‑based protocols.
• Direct and mentor a multidisciplinary team, manage staffing, credentialing, competency assessments and professional development.
• Oversee departmental operations, budgeting, resource allocation and advanced equipment management, partnering with hospital administration on strategic growth and technology adoption.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of clinical anesthesia experience, with at least 5 years focused on cardiac anesthesia and critical care after specialist certification.
• Proven leadership track record in a tertiary care hospital or specialized cardiac center.
• Doctoral degree (MD/PhD) in Medicine with specialist certification in Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine.

Required skills

• Advanced cardiac anesthesia techniques.
• Proficiency with mechanical circulatory support devices (ECMO, IABP, VADs).
• Expertise in advanced monitoring systems.
