About the role
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a qualified Nephrologist to join its ACCESS 2.0 initiative in Al Kufra, Libya. The role focuses on integrating kidney‑related care into primary health services, supporting early detection, management, and referral of renal conditions within the Essential Services Package.
Key responsibilities
- Provide specialized consultations for patients with chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury, hypertensive or diabetic nephropathy.
- Support early screening and risk stratification for renal complications among non‑communicable disease (NCD) patients.
- Develop individualized management plans and ensure continuity of care within IRC‑supported facilities.
- Establish and strengthen referral pathways to higher‑level facilities for dialysis, advanced diagnostics, or specialist intervention.
- Train primary health‑care teams on nephrology screening and management protocols.
- Contribute to the integration of nephrology services within routine NCD programming.
Required profile
- Medical doctor with specialization in nephrology.
- Experience delivering renal care in primary‑care or resource‑limited settings.
- Familiarity with Libyan Ministry of Health regulations and international nephrology guidelines.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary health teams.
