Wireline Crew Chief - Field Operations, Libya

About the role

A pioneering oil and gas company founded in the early 1980s, with operations across the Middle East, the Americas and Africa, is hiring a Wireline Crew Chief for field-based work in Libya. The role leads and supports safe, efficient wireline operations, supervising field personnel and ensuring equipment, people and operations meet HSE and technical standards, in both rig and rigless environments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise cased hole wireline operations, with exposure to open hole logging
• Perform and support PLT, cement evaluation, production logging and pipe recovery operations
• Lead and support rig and rigless wireline operations
• Perform perforation operations and handle explosives safely
• Operate and support pipe recovery tools such as FPIT, plugs and cutters
• Manage Pressure Control Equipment (PCE), including rig-up and rig-down procedures
• Maintain wireline units and downhole tools and keep equipment ready
• Support operations in H2S environments following safety procedures
• Lead, supervise and motivate field personnel, troubleshoot issues and maintain high HSE standards

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in cased hole wireline operations, with exposure to open hole logging
• Proven rig and rigless operations experience, and experience in H2S environments
• Previous leadership and team supervision experience
• Ability to work under pressure in remote desert locations on a 1x1 rotation

Required skills

• PLT, cement evaluation, production logging and pipe recovery
• Perforation and safe handling of explosives
• Knowledge of pipe recovery tools (FPIT, plugs, cutters) and PCE rig-up/rig-down
• Wireline unit and downhole tool maintenance
• Strong HSE awareness, troubleshooting and decision-making under pressure
