Finance Assistant

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council is seeking a Finance Assistant to support the daily financial operations of its Libya programme. You will ensure accurate processing of payments, maintain cash records, and assist with payroll and month‑end activities.

Key responsibilities

• Process bank and cash payments in line with DRC forms and national regulations.
• Verify supporting documentation and obtain proper authorisation before releasing funds.
• Prepare and monitor bank payments, manage petty cash, and maintain sufficient bank balances.
• Update the DRC Dynamics cashbook daily and record all expenses with appropriate documentation.
• Assist with monthly payroll preparation, cash counts, and month‑end closure.
• Perform vendor and staff payments, ensuring compliance with legal and tax requirements.
• Maintain organised filing (hard and soft copies) of financial documents and upload them to Dynamics.
• Support the implementation and data quality of the DRC Dynamics Finance module and manage finance‑related SharePoint spaces.

Required profile

• Minimum of one year experience in a similar finance or accounting role.
• Strong written, numerical and organisational abilities.
• Experience working with UN agencies or NGOs is preferred.
• Ability to handle cash and banking transactions accurately.

Required skills

• Proficiency with DRC Dynamics (Finance module).
• Experience using SharePoint for document management.
• Solid computer literacy and basic accounting software skills.
