Safety Officer

About the role

The Safety Officer is responsible for maintaining a strong HSE culture and ensuring a safe working environment for all offshore personnel. This role monitors compliance, conducts training, and oversees emergency preparedness across the vessel.

Key responsibilities

• Stop unsafe acts and reinforce HSE culture.
• Enforce and monitor PPE compliance for all offshore staff.
• Ensure personnel are trained, competent, and authorized for their tasks.
• Conduct inductions, safety briefings, and continuous safety training.
• Maintain awareness of subcontractor activities, associated risks, and permit‑to‑work requirements.
• Assist in safety inspections, hazard identification, risk assessments, and control measures.
• Oversee preventative and remedial maintenance of LSA, FFA, and emergency equipment.
• Monitor incident, near‑miss, and non‑conformance reporting and support medical injury reporting.
• Continuously improve emergency response plans, SBMS updates, and personnel tracking systems.
• Maintain emergency contact lists, muster lists, fire envelopes, and hazardous material registers with up‑to‑date MSDS.
• Report and investigate accidents, dangerous occurrences, and environmental incidents.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in offshore HSE environments.
• Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation and company policies.
• Ability to conduct training, inductions, and safety briefings.
• Proficiency in risk assessment, hazard control, and emergency procedures.
• Excellent attention to detail for equipment inspections and documentation.

Required skills

• Safety Management System (SBMS) operation and updating.
• Permit‑to‑Work system administration.
• Use and maintenance of LSA, FFA, and emergency communication equipment.
