About the role
The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is seeking reliable security guards, both male and female, to protect its personnel, facilities and assets in Tripoli, Libya. The role involves constant vigilance, rapid reporting of hazards, and ensuring only authorized individuals access the compound.
Key responsibilities
- Patrol assigned areas to safeguard NRC staff, buildings and property.
- Monitor and immediately report any irregularities, fire or water hazards, and unauthorized persons.
- Inspect perimeter defenses—including gates, doors, fences, lighting and barbed wire—to confirm they are intact.
- Assist in reducing the impact of attacks by warning occupants, calling for assistance and supporting evacuations.
- Man the main gate at all times, control entry and exit, and verify visitor identities.
- Log all visitors in the Visitors Book and ensure they meet their hosts.
- Receive, screen and log deliveries of mail, packages and other items.
- Provide a thorough handover to the incoming guard at shift change.
Required profile
- Previous experience as a guard in humanitarian or recovery settings.
- Experience working in complex, volatile environments.
- Fluency in English and Arabic.
- Ability to handle insecure environments and communicate with respect.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
